Since inception, we’ve awarded over $1,000,000 to 50 medical students from underrepresented backgrounds across the country. Our investment in the next generation of diverse physician leaders extends through our partnerships with Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine with Atlanta being our second largest donor base. 6 of ElevateMeD Scholars have been awarded to our partner schools in Atlanta and we look forward to announcing the 2024-25 cohort of ElevateMeD Scholars in May. ElevateMeD’s success is a testament to what can happen in five years as a result of the power of the collective! As ElevateMeD continues to forge an impact on the next generation of physician leaders, this year’s celebration in Atlanta has us energized and excited for the future of diverse medical students, and soon to be physician leaders across the country! The 2024 Ignite Atlanta event featured the following highlights: Over $100,000 raised with more than 100 guests in attendance ElevateMeD Founder and CEO, Dr. Alyx Porter Umphrey , shared welcoming remarks expressing how Atlanta is the place where she first started to dream about creating an organization that would significantly impact underrepresented medical students on a journey similar to hers. The third ElevateMeD Trailblazer Award was presented to Chiquita Lockley , for her efforts to bring awareness to disparities in reproductive health in Black women. Ashley Harriott , ElevateMeD Scholar and Emory University School of Medicine Class of 2024 delivered a dynamic keynote address sharing her journey from a shy little girl into a physician ready to tackle health disparities in underserved communities.
